When we think of the Ford Mustang what comes to mind?  Is it all the ponies under the hood?  A sidekick to Steve McQueen in “Bullitt”?  Or a sexy as all hell, straight up rock and roll pony car that revs a distinctive V-8 engine that car lovers drool hand over foot for?  Either way, the list can go on and on…

In honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang, I was tasked to design concepts for a home page take over that celebrated the newly redesigned Mustang. This was a considerable undertaking as an art director because how does one encompass 50 years into a single banner?

My goal was to create a home page banner by utilizing user interaction on the initial load.  A gas pedal was placed strategically within the design to entice the user to click on the banner.  This would then start the interaction design portion and lead the viewer to photos, videos, a 360-degree view and a custom colorizer, allowing a front row seat for anything and everything Mustang.

Challenge & Solution

Design and create an experience that encompasses the 5o year life span of the Ford Mustang… ok, hold my coffee. This was an exciting project to work on, and a challenging one because there were limitations to my designs and where I wanted to take them, due to the digital space. After a few days of trying to design everything and the kitchen sink, I had to take a step back, breathe and show the essentials, and of course the new Mustang.
